NaNoWriMo is coming soon

There are less than 100 days left before November. And November is of course National Novel Writing Month. It is a time when people all over the world come together and try to write 50,000 words in 30 days.

I have a bit of a dilemma this year. I can't decide what to write. The problem is not that I have no novel ideas. The problem is that I have 3 different novel ideas.

Last year I was planning to write a superhero murder mystery but my thought process was taken over by another idea. The concept was basically 'young people in space' and it grew to become my novel A Space Story. By the way I think I finally came up with a better title. I was thinking of calling it The Starship, The Alien and The Dream.

This year I wanted to go back and write my superhero murder mystery but now I have two other story ideas in my mind that could take over before November.

The first one is tentativly titled Girl Story. It is a story about a girl named Katarina who lives on a future Earth where human civilization advanced then fell in a great cataclysm. What followed was a period known as the Age of Beasts. It has been 100 years since the Age of Beasts came to an end and humanity has been slowly rebuilding but most modern technology has yet to be rediscovered.
The 5 Divine Orders seek to find the reincarnation of the ancient legendary warrior Antalla. The Antalla was a champion who fought for humanity against evil across the ages. Katarina's brother is selected to be one of the candidates as the new Antalla. As the story goes on Katarina learns that the power of Antalla is actually passed down from person to person, not through reincarnation. And furthermore every Antalla including the current one has been a woman.
The true Antalla shows up and takes Katarina and her brother and the other Antalla candidates under her protection because the Antalla has many enemies and the Divine Orders actions have stirred them up.

The other idea that is growing in my mind does not have a title yet. I was going to call it The Strange Planet but I think someone already used that title somewhere before. I thought The Fantastic Planet would be a good one but that was a wierd animated French film from the 70's. Then I thought something like The Dangerous Planet or The Hostile Planet. Someone suggested to me The Inconcievable Planet. The Impossible Planet sounds good but that was an episode of Doctor Who. I have also considered something like The Unexplainable Planet.
It takes place in the far future. The Earth is too overcrowded and polluted so humanity is moving out to new planets. One ship gets knocked off course and lands instead on a bizzare world.
The planet they are on is divided into different lands each with their own environment separate from the neighboring ones. The ship is in the Red lands which are bordered by the Orange, Green, White and Black lands.
I am still working on the characters. One would be the imperial military commander who thinks he should get the ship flying again so they can get to their original destination. Then there is the Cheif Science Officer who is the main civilian authority. She thinks they should stay on this world and be free of the empire. One half of the story would revolve around these two coming into conflict.
The other half of the story would be about the Science Officer's team. She hand picked her team made up of exceptional young women from around the world. One of them gets kidnapped by the overlord of the Green lands who happens to be a sort of space werewolf. The team goes in for the rescue but in the process accidentally end up on the other side of the planet and now must make their way across a hostile landscape back to the ship.

Either one of those could be a novel but I really want to get back to my superhero murder mystery.
I starts with the superhero Redbolt and some other superheros he is friends with. Then the secretive agency that monitors superhumans asks him to come by and identify a body. The body is Redbolt's arch enemy the mad scientist Doctor Steeljaw. Steeljaw was one of the most notorious super villians in the world and almost every superhero had motive to kill him.
The agency already checked and found that Redbolt has an alibi for the time of death, he was on another planet at the time. They ask Redbolt to help with the investigation. He then goes around interviewing the worlds most well known superheros who had a grudge against Doctor Steeljaw. As the investigation goes on Redbolt finds that Steeljaw's murder may have been part of something much bigger.

So there are my ideas for NaNoWriMo this year.
